GPXZ is an API for elevation point queries.

Through running Open Topo Data, I’ve talked to lots of people working with elevation. There are two themes that regularly come up round access to elevation data:

• There are heaps of great high-resolution open datasets available in 2021 but they all have different projections, datums, qualities, file formats, and download methods.
• Elevation datasets are large, often too large for fast and cheap access on cloud platforms.

GPXZ is a paid API that addresses these issues. It uses opentopodata under the hood, on a new dataset I built from entirely open sources. There are endpoints for batch queries and sampled paths, plus an endpoint with drop-in compatibility with the Google Maps Elevation API. Check it out over on gpxz.io.
